Again with the jeans. I promise, I wore a dress with tights later that evening for Blogger’s Night Out Oklahoma. Which, by the way, was amazing.
I didn’t even know the event was happening until about 24 hours prior. I was in a funk about not having any girlfriends in the area, and then by chance I started googling blogs in OKC. One of my search terms led me to this post by Rachel of Pencil Shavings, a cute design and lifestyle blog located right here in the city. I scanned the post thinking, darn — I bet I missed this. And then my eyes fell on the date and realized it was … the very next night!
So I went, alone (Jerry was working, plus — that would have been awkward for him). But I had a fabulous dress on that the cutest sales guy at J.Crew Outlet helped me pick out, and then he took my card and now we’re friends on twitter. Shout out to Gatlin!
I’ll post pictures of my outfit for BNO on Monday. I brought my DSLR with me, but left in the truck. Sorta kicking myself, but there were plenty other photographers there. I’ll be recapping the event on Monday.
Not feeling so lonely in Oklahoma now.

I happened upon this pretty little lakeside spot last weekend while I was trying to find a yoga class. A place like this is almost non-existent in California, it would be swarming with people at all times. People trying to feed the ducks, exercise and generally be close to nature.
Here, it’s abandoned and crawling with feral cats. How exciting for me though, I can take my gratuitous pictures without anyone giving me a strange look.
It finally rained here and I was so excited to dig out my wellies and trample around in the mud. These are one of the best purchases I have made. They’re so cute and practical. My next pair of rain boots will be Hunters again, the shape of the boot and the lining is just paramount compared to others.
I had a friend ask if my toes got cold in them, because her’s did inside her Target rain boots. I thought about it and realized that even without socks, they did not. I couldn’t describe why until I got home and inspected the lining. It appears to be the same stuff wetsuits are made of, neoprene maybe? I don’t know. I don’t surf.
Moral of the story, my boots are cute.

We’ve finally reached the time of the year that I’ve been referencing for awhile. A time I’ve looked ahead to and felt a mixture of excitement and sadness. For eight months my husband and I have been living several states away from each other. We have planned all along for me to move out there, but it didn’t happen right away for many reasons. The most important of those reasons was so that I could spend the holiday season with my family.
Yesterday I had a nice quite dinner with my parents and my sister (who took these photos, and actually enjoyed doing so) and then we took a few plates over to my grandparents house as well.
What truly changed my day and possibly how I’ll see the rest of this time with my family was this touching post by my friend Layla who is having to say goodbye this season to a dear friend. It changes your perspective a bit, eh?
