February 9th 2012 — Blogger’s Night Out

I attended the BNO meetup in Oklahoma City Thursday night. Walking into the venue, The Makeup Bar, I was hit with a momentarily wave of fear as I didn’t know a soul. I hadn’t had the opportunity to look up stalk any of the other bloggers, as I had only just discovered this meetup less than 24 hours prior.

My first move, after standing around awkwardly for 30 seconds assessing the situation, was to get some booze in my hand. While standing in line for a drink, another blogger reached out and asked me about myself and my blog. Just like that, I made a friend or two. Sally has a bouncing baby food blog of only 3 months, and Melissa just moved here from Kansas and writes a lifestyle blog featuring one good deed a day.

I sorta clung to them like a creepy sidekick for the rest of the night. I met so many amazing women with interesting and inspiring blogs, businesses and lives. We were offered free brow waxing, make-up tutorials and tips. A mixologist from the Deep Fork Grill took the time to explain how to make each drink before we tossed them back gleefully. Little bitty cupcakes from Green Goodies did not go unnoticed by yours truly.

I was meandering past the cupcakes one last time when I spotted a Spike The Punch necklace from across the room, to which I squealed and held my wrist out to show my mutual appreciation of Elizabeth’s work. Anna had the same bracelet on as well, so we proceeded to gush about our love of STP and spread the word about her shop to some fellow bloggers within earshot (as if she needed our help, pshhhh — girl is unstoppable.) and then I made another friend!

(if you can’t tell, I’m that weirdo that thinks anyone who smiles and talks to me for more than a minute is automatically my like-best-friend-forever-omigosh-besties-for-life!)

There’s talk about more meet-ups in the near future, and hopefully I can hang out with some of these girls on a regular basis. As long as they don’t mind my constant fixation on shoes and jewelry and clothes and everything everywhere …
