January 17th 2012

In case you didn’t know, I’m blind as a darn bat without some form of corrective vision. Pretty sure I’m legally blind, it’s really that bad. Contacts are great, and I’ve been wearing them since I was in the 7th grade, but sometimes it gets a little old. Especially on days where the wind is blowing 45mph sideways with a 19* wind chill factor. Note how my hands never come out from my pockets in these pictures.

I have a few pairs of prescription glasses, but these are the first I actually, truly, like. Part of that has to do with the option I was given to choose a thinner lens, my practical disability requires coke-bottle-esque lenses usually.

If you couldn’t have guessed, my other glasses are designer (Ralph Lauren and Juicy Couture) and yet, these feel higher quality for a fraction of the cost. Great style and sight shouldn’t be a luxury, but a necessity.

One thing that I really enjoyed with the purchase of these glasses was the ability to try all their styles virtually. I used my webcam in their virtual mirror and got to see how each frame looked on my face, which is completely essential when you buy eyeglasses.

Shipping was fast, however I found them a little too large for my tiny head. I simply wandered down to the local eye doctor’s office and they adjusted them for me free of charge.

(I’ve just revealed to you in one post that I’m blind and a pin-head. You still wanna be besties for life right?)
