Reader Request: Winter Coats
My cute little Texas friend Lauren asked me for some advice on finding a stylish winter coat. Now I realize the Winter season is nearly over, but for us here in the Midwest and the South, it’s still warm. We’re all waiting with baited breath for the cold that’s destined to arrive this month.
Lauren asked for something in black or a neutral tone that was under a $100 — with online retailers throwing all their Winter stuff into major sales, now is the perfect time to pick up a sweet deal on a cute coat. I figured I’d throw a few fun choices in bold colors and earthy tones for the rest of you.

- Red in a muted tone can work with everyday attire, the style is classic as well: Tulle “Bundle Up Coat” via Modcloth — $108
- Basic black with some interest in the form of a flattering quilt pattern: Quilted Fit & Flare Coat via ASOS — $45
- A simple color but the collar adds a chic and unexpected touch: Theme Waist-Coat Jacket via Piperlime (20% off code: NEWYOU) — $109
- A great mossy green with a simple and posh shape, goes with everything: Nick & Mo Leaf Collection Coat via Modcloth — $115
- With a sleek 70’s vibe, this coat is at the top of my list, which figures because it’s out of my budget: RD INTERNATIONAL Homemade Marshmallows Coat via Modcloth — $178
- Western is making a comeback, pair this with jeans and boots: BB Dakota Prairie Hideaway Coat via Modcloth — $110
- I nabbed this golden jacket for a complete steal yesterday during Modcloth’s huge 70% off sale, they may still have some left for $30: Tulle “Have a Gold Day” Coat via Modcloth — normally $108
- This bright red belted coat has a fantastic silhouette to it, don’t be afraid to wear this bold little number well past the holiday season, it’s on major sale too: ASOS Asymmetric Fit & Flare Coat — $82
- This is just plain old fun, and a great price. Why not have a candy pink plaid coat? Y Apparel Inc. Candy Connoisseur Coat via Modcloth — $50
