The Move Midwest: Part I

As you might recall, my husband and I started our 1,800 mile road trip to Oklahoma City from Northern California on Sunday. I thought it would be fun to show you some of our trip pictures.

The following were all taken with my iPhone the first 3 days of our trip (Sunday-Tuesday), using either Instagram, PicFXHipstamatic or some crazy combination of them all. If you have any questions about specific filters, effects or lenses/film (with the Hipstamatic) please don’t hesitate to ask.

I like the gritty, poor quality looking pictures. It makes them interesting and unique. I was excited to see that Hipstamatic will print them for you for relatively cheap. I see a project in my near future involving these prints on my new walls …

The Kern River Valley in Bakersfield. You can’t see it, but there are thousands of oil rigs pumping away along the hillsides.

East of Barstow, clusters of wind turbines sprinkle the tops of the ridges.

A little Mojave Desert as the sun sets

Oh Interstate 40, you’ve carried us so very far away from California

I hope to have the pictures of the Grand Canyon, the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest up on the blog tomorrow(ish). Sorry if you’ve seen these already via Twitter, Instagram or Facebook! Don’t forget to follow the hashtag #TheTaylorsMoveMidwest on Twitter or Instagram so you can follow along on the trip with us! I tweet like a excited bird about everything I see.

Tomorrow we’ll be leaving from Amarillo, Texas all the way into Oklahoma City!
