This was a monumental day. For those of you who don’t know, my husband has been living and working 1,700 miles away in Oklahoma, since April 1st. It was a decision we made together to better our lives financially, putting our marriage between several states and our love miles apart.
In these last 9 months I’ve learned a lot about myself and my marriage. Specifically, that both are stronger and more stable than I had imagined. You might not believe this, but we managed just fine. This isn’t a sign that our marriage is doomed because neither of us died tragically of loneliness, it’s a sign that we are individual functioning adults who know ourselves as well as we know each other. This was a big change that needed to happen.
After the holidays we BOTH will be heading back to Oklahoma, permanently. But until then, we’re spending time with friends and family.
My husband’s plane landed at 4:10 in Sacramento and he set foot on California soil for the first time since the spring thaw. I greeted him at the bottom of the escalator by baggage claim in my favorite flared jeans, his favorite shade of lipstick and a little welcoming sign. The faux Bambi print jacket was the icing on the cake.

Like my make up and my nails? Great, because I have a Holiday Face & Nails post for tomorrow — see you then my pretties!
