Remember that old rule, No White After Labor Day? Throw it out the window. The thought comes from the idea that while the whole world pales to the light of winter, including your skin, that you need to banish from your wardrobe anything similar to make up for it.
Granted, I’m naturally sun-kissed — I give you permission to grumble — I think white is a lovely color hue in any light. There are very few rules to stick to nowadays when it comes to fashion. To make white (or cream in my case) look flattering, pick pieces that work well with your body.
White can be unforgiving, the eye draws attention to it over darker shades. I know high-waisted pencil skirts and tops with a built in nip around the middle always make my short stature and large boobs look proportionate. Of course, to add a little Holiday spice I popped in some bright red, which also helps warm the whole look up. I added a classic pearl necklace and red lips and skipped — er, carefully strutted in my 4” heels — off to a cute ballet production of Alice and Wonderland with one of my best friends, Dana. She graciously took my photos for me as well, doing a beautiful job even though some serious crazies walked through the shoot.
